Studio Technician Position – Pittsburgh Pottery

Location: Carnegie/Bridgeville

 

Position Type: Part-Full time

Are you a passionate ceramicist looking for hands-on studio experience in a dynamic and supportive environment? Pittsburgh Pottery is seeking a dedicated Studio Technician to help maintain our studio operations while developing their own ceramic practice.

Responsibilities include:

Studio Maintenance: Keeping the studio clean, organized, and well-functioning.

  • Clay Reclamation: Recycling clay and managing studio reclaim processes.
  • Kiln Operations: Loading, firing, and unloading kilns for both studio production and student work.
  • Processing Student Work: Ensuring student pieces move efficiently through the drying, firing, and glazing process.
  • Equipment & Materials Care: Assisting with glaze mixing, restocking materials, and maintaining studio tools and machinery.
  • Heavy Lifting: Must be able to lift 80 lbs, as clay and kiln shelves require frequent handling.

 

Who We’re Looking For

 

  • A passionate ceramicist with experience in studio work (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • Someone who enjoys working with clay and understands (or wants to learn) kiln firing, glaze chemistry, and clay reclamation.
  • A dependable, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in keeping a studio running efficiently.
  • Physically capable of handling the demands of a ceramics studio.
