Teacher: Kellie Kerner
Earlier Riser Wheel Throwing begins Tuesday July 31st 10AM-1PM and runs for 4 consecutive weeks.
Start your mornings with intention and clay. This 4-week class gets you centered (literally) as the day begins. You’ll learn the foundations of wheel throwing, from shaping and trimming to glazing your finished pieces.
Clear your head, engage your hands, and create pieces you’ll use and enjoy in everyday life. No experience needed—just bring your morning coffee and a willingness to dive in.
Week 1:
We’ll start with demonstrations, then everyone will get time on the wheel. Expect personalized instruction and support throughout the class. Each student will have their own storage bin for works in progress, which you’ll use throughout the 4 weeks.
Week 2:
Another full week of throwing, plus time to trim the pots you made in week 1. Want to try something new? Just ask for a demo—this week is a great time to explore techniques you're curious about.
Week 3:
You’ll trim and finish the pieces you threw over the last two weeks—this may include adding handles, knobs, textures, or even faces. You’ll also have the option to hand-build or create simple forms that can be completed and fired the same day.
Week 4:
Your pots will be bisque fired and ready to glaze! We’ll walk you through the glazing process so your pieces are kiln-ready. Finished work will be fired and available for pickup in 2weeks.
All clay, glaze and firings included!
We are located at 309 Main Street Carnegie right across from Standard Ceramics.
